"SHAKARA"...Not A Girl's Thing Alone!

Please indulge me.

Why do boys always always associate this funny looking name with us girls? why?

Men claim we turn down invitations left and right, by claiming excuses such as a friend's birthday, or an invitation to dinner, and all sorts of silly little  things they come up with. The world is a dating game and all the men and women merely players. Men are taught to play hard to get in order to seem more attractive to women, while women, usually on the receiving end of the "pickup," are conditioned to be a challange.

But, are girls the only ones who exhibit "shakaraa"?  I know boys do too. Sometimes, when a guy knows you like him, he begins to act weired, like it is not okay to like him, as if liking someone was made for a particular gender. Women nowadays are scared to approach guys they like or are crushing on for fear of being called names and laughed at. We have somehow  positioned our minds to either wait to be called upon or lose interest in the whole thing.

Take this scenario for instance:

You've beaten the odds and gotten her number, but that's only half the battle; you haven't called and asked her out yet. You dial her digits and lo and behold, you go straight to voicemail after a few rings. Because you do not want to fall your own hands, you leave her a message "Hi Sandy, it's Mark. I met you on Saturday night at Alley Kats. Just wanted to say hi and see how you're doing. You can reach me at 08073645872. Speak to you soon, Mark."
Two days pass and she still hasn't called you back. You call her again and happen to catch her answering the phone. She apologizes for not having called you earlier but she was busy, busy, busy.

Now, that is shakaraa...., but you would not blame us. Almost every girl does this , but it's not our thing alone. If we do not do this, because of the society we find ourselves in, we'd get ridiculed or come across as being cheap. This is our own way of proving hard to get...

Accept it o.

And also accept it's not a girl's thing alone.
